Product Overview
Description:
Encapsulated Silicone O-Rings are comprised of a FEP fluropolymer jacket encapsulating a elastomer core made of silicone material. These encapsulated o-rings feature an excellent resistance to almost all chemicals and maintain their properties over long exposure.
Encapsulated o-rings provide the chemical resistance similar in PTFE o-rings, but also carries the elasticity of the elastomer core. They feature excellent resistance to weathering, a low coefficient of frictions, dielectric properties, and flexibilty. The silicone material core provides a higher temperature capability than its FKM counterpart.
Typical Applications
Encapsulated Silicones are commonly used within applications regarding petrochemcials, food and pharmaceutical industries where either chemical resistance or non-contamination are preferential.
It is excellent for long-term fluid sealing applications. They are FDA approved, therefore are suitable within dairy, alcohol, food and beverage industies. They are also suitable for automotive components, oil extraction applications, pulp and paper industries and even within cosmetics and perfumery.
Do Not Use With:
The primary offset with these encapsulated o-rings are the fluoropolymer jacket's slight stiffness can require custom application design for maximum sealing effect. .
