Product Overview
Description:
This type of gasket is comprised of silicone rubber, a material known for its resistance to the aging process. Silicone rubber has an excellent resistance to water and salts and is able to withstand temperatures up to 450 degrees Fahrenheit, maintaining its dimensional tolerance. Silicone avoids brittleness in freezing temperatures and is generally non-reactive, stable, and resistant to extreme environments.
When it comes to sealing flanges, whether raised or flat face flanges, there are two type of gasket shapes - Ring Gaskets and Full Face Gaskets. Full Face Gaskets are similar to Ring gaskets, as they too are used to seal raised flanges, however Full Face are designed with a specified number of holes for securing bolts to pass through, thus making alignment easier and clamping easier. Full Face gaskets also have the added benefit of filling the hap between the bolting surfaces. The disadvantage is that the joint must be completely dissembled for installation.
Applications:
Compatible with low-pressure pipe flanges, raised and flat face flanges, Silicone Rubber gaskets are best used within applications for water, salts, hot air, extreme temperatures up to 450F, or for applications with exposure to ozone or UV.
Do Not Use Within:
Silicone Rubber is not compatible with acids, steam, silicone and petroleum based oils, fuels, or aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, such as propane, butene, benzene, and methane.
