Product Overview
Description:
These gaskets are comprised of Flexible Graphite, manufactured from exfoliated graphite flakes, compressed into a foil through a precise calendering process which is then reinforced with a 316SS tanged core. Through this calendering process, the graphite flakes are mechanically entwined without using binders, fibers or other additives.
Flexible graphite gaskets have very low creep relaxation, making re-torquing rarely required. They conform easily to irregular flange faces and sealing surfaces, ensuring a tight seal on both coarse and smooth surfaces.
When it comes to sealing flanges, whether raised or flat face flanges, there are two type of gasket shapes - ring gaskets and full face gaskets. Ring Gaskets are positioned inside of the flange holts and around the pipe bore. They can also be used within a raised face design, where it sits on the raised surface. Ring Gaskets reuqire less material and less cutting and can be installed without completely dissembling the joint. The disadvantage is the gasket can be harder to align and clamp.
Applications:
Due to its excellent resistance to extreme temperatures, heat, fire, aggressive chemicals and corrosion, Flexible graphite gaskets are highly versatile and one of the most universally applicable sealing solutions. This gasket material has an excellent resistance to chemical attacks from virtually all organic and inorganic fluids (excluding high-oxidizing acids). Flexible graphite gaskets are ideal within low bolt load applications, high temperature flanges and virtually any chemical applications. Please handle flexible graphite gaskets with care; some styles with inserts may be sharp on the sides.
Do Not Use Within:
These gaskets are not suitable with Glass-Lined, Aluminum or Bronze flanges.
