Description:
These gaskets are manufactured from a compressed fiber material specifically formulated for sanitary servicing and developed to allow compliance for drinking water system components. This material meets the criteria for NSF-61 certification, assuring safety in use with drinking water services and contact with potable water. Additional benefits include an excellent resistance to conductivity and a strong dielectric rating, ideal for isolation kit applications.
The NSF/ANSI G-61 standard specifies criteria for evaluation and testing of products to ensure they do not leach hazardous or contaminating material into water. As of January 4, 2014 it has been illegal to introduce products into commerce for drinking water applications UNLESS they are tested and meet the new version of the lead-free standard.
When it comes to sealing flanges, whether raised or flat face flanges, there are two type of gasket shapes - Ring Gaskets and Full Face Gaskets. Full Face Gaskets are similar to Ring gaskets, as they too are used to seal raised flanges, however Full Face are designed with a specified number of holes for securing bolts to pass through, thus making alignment easier and clamping easier. Full Face gaskets also have the added benefit of filling the hap between the bolting surfaces. The disadvantage is that the joint must be completely dissembled for installation.
Typical Applications
Due to the NSF-61 Certification, it is best used within any application that may be in contact with potable water. These gaskets are recommended for water filtration, processing or treatment facilities and industries.
Do Not Use With:
These gaskets are recommended for applications that are in contact with foods and potable water, therefore they are not recommended for any other application that does not involve potable water.
